We stand at the brink, understanding that the world we have known cannot stand unchanged in the face of the ominous forces of societal, economic and moral collapse, expanding government appetites and natural push-back on the part of people who always thought they were free and have awakened to the prospect that other people are doing their dead-level best to enslave them and their children.

If history has taught us anything, it is that there is no negotiating with collectivist slave-masters. Like the Borg, collectivism in all its forms demands your assimilation or your death.


And let us take more than one moment today to reflect upon the monstrous crimes in modern memory that this date also marks the anniversary of: Waco and Oklahoma City. Let us swear that neither be repeated as long as we draw breath. As Three Percenters, we cannot do otherwise.

Cops: Public Servants or Fascist Pigs? (Part 1)

Larken Rose once again expresses the sentiments that many of us have felt for a long time. PoLice of ANY jurisdiction have become the defacto enforcement arm of a fascist poLice state governmental system. They are seldom held accountable for their actions. When they are held accountable it is NOT commensurate with the CRIME that they have have perpetrated on the individual specifically and the public generally at large. This will not stop until they are held personally accountable for their abuse by an extra lawful authority, in the Talion Law form of an Umpire of Justice. Those who are willing to take up the burden of being justices of Talion Law would be true heroes of the people.



It was not many years ago when I considered myself a supporter of "law enforcement." (I made donations, had the F.O.P. and Sheriff's department stickers and everything.) Cops were, I believed, the good guys, protecting the innocent and imposing justice upon evildoers. Oh sure, I knew there was corruption here and there, and scattered examples of police abuse--a few "bad apples" in the ranks- - -but all in all, I thought the cops were the good guys.

Now I'm really darn embarrassed that I ever thought that.

This will be the first in a series of messages where we examine the question, are the American "law enforcers" of today noble public servants, or despicable fascist pigs?

First, we must define our terms. For example, someone having a short temper, or exercising bad judgment, even repeatedly, is not necessarily a fascist pig. No, a cop's level of "fascismo," if you will, must be measured by something other than just being stupid or even malicious. To truly be a fascist, a cop must demonstrate that he has the fascist mindset. So let's define what that is.

A NON-fascist cop, when he looks out at the world, would see lots of good people, whom he would want to protect, and would never want to harm, intimidate, or even inconvenience unnecessarily. His goal would be to find the nasty people in the world, and see to it that they are prevented from harming any of the decent people.

A FASCIST cop, on the other hand, would view everyone as his inferior, to be controlled, interrogated, or even abused at will. He sees himself, a representative of "authority," as having the right to forcibly impose his will on anyone he wants, whenever he wants, for any reason (or no reason) and the right to use outright violence against any who do not obey his every whim.

So, in this message and the ones to follow, we will examine examples of police conduct in this country, and rate the level of "fascismo" demonstrated by American "law enforcement." What we won't bother looking at are things like a car chase which ends with a cop with too much adrenaline in his blood, or a cop shooting someone with somewhat questionable justification. No, we are looking for ATTITUDE. The goal is to determine if American cops today think like defenders of justice, or like fascist pigs.

As you may know, the feds now do internal "checkpoints," anywhere they want within a hundred miles of the border. If you haven't yet heard of this Orwellian absurdity, here are the basics:

(Yes, I know the ACLU is very selective about which rights it cares about. It fights hard to defend the First Amendment, while fighting hard to VIOLATE the Second Amendment. But their site gives a good summary of the "Constitution free zones.")

With the "checkpoint" information in mind, here is the specific incident we're considering this time, with our "fascistometers" at the ready:

Once you've watched the entire video (it's less than nine minutes), consider a few things:

1) First of all, would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig take part in these warrantless, suspicionless searches at all? Well, no. To think you have the right to stop and interrogate anyone who happens to drive down a road, and the right to search through his stuff, is a classic symptom of being a fascist pig.

2) Would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig view someone's reliance on his Fourth Amendment rights (to not be subjected to an unreasonable and unjustified search) as a REASON to search his car? Put another way, would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig think that someone must be a criminal if he doesn't want to volunteer to let some jackboot rummage through his stuff? No. Again, this is a classic symptom of someone with a fascist pig world view. (Note that in the clip, the guy describes how the fascist pigs at one point admitted that everything the guy went through was because he wouldn't answer a question.)

3) Would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig FAKE "probable cause" in order to get around that pesky Fourth Amendment? No. They had no reason to suspect anything--to stop him at all, or to search him after the stop--and then they LIED about it to make up an excuse to do a search. Classic fascist pig behavior.

4) Would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig smash someone's car windows, taser him, and forcibly extract him from his car, without ANY "probable cause" to think the person had committed a crime? Again, no. (If you're finding these questions difficult to answer, please move to Cuba.)

5) Would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig grind someone's face into broken glass, throw him to the ground, stomp on his head, and otherwise assault him, when the person is unarmed and not resisting, and when there is still no evidence that the guy had committed any crime? No. (The clip doesn't say whether the cops ever knew that the guy is a pastor.)

6) Would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig openly delight in someone else's misery and suffering, while the person is handcuffed and bleeding profusely, mocking and insulting the guy, when there was still NO EVIDENCE that the guy had committed any crime? No. (I could make another item about not letting the guy go to the bathroom, but I'm trying to keep this relatively short.)

7) Here's an important one: Would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig QUIETLY STAND BY while his fellow "officers" did what is described above? NO. If this was a case of one or two "bad apples" in law enforcement, wouldn't some other cop there have tried to stop it, or at least complained about it afterwards? So how often have you ever seen that? Where are the "good cops" speaking out about this stuff?

8) Would anyone who is NOT a fascist pig want to proceed to prosecute the VICTIM of all the abuse I described above, despite the fact that there is STILL no evidence that he committed a crime? No.

Okay, so what's the verdict for this example? Well, if the story above is an accurate reflection of what "law enforcement" in this country is like today, then American cops are indeed fascist pigs, who deserve our utmost contempt and condemnation. (And if it is NOT an accurate reflection of the attitudes and behavior of the police in this country, where are the GOOD cops speaking out against this?)

In closing, I'd like to say the following to Mr. C. Diaz, Mr. B. Griffiths, and Mr. E. Gomez, and any other Nazi swine who participated in the incident described above. If some day you pick the wrong target for your Gestapo crap, and the guy blows your damn fascist pig heads off, the world will be a better place.

Baptist pastor beaten + tazed by Border patrol - 11 stitches

I told them I was a US citizen.

I told them I was on a business trip.

I told them I had no drugs or humans in the car.

That wasn't enough. They wanted to search the car, and I invoked my 4th amendment rights.

I DID NOT RESIST OR FIGHT BACK. YET I WAS TAZERED REPEATEDLY AND SHOVED IN BROKEN GLASS REPEATEDLY!

I was IN the United States!!! I had crossed no international border!!!

U.S. Preparing a Military Response to Coming Social Chaos

As the shocking confidential information contained in this briefing shows, the threat of social meltdown and chaos is so large a domestic law-enforcement arm of the U.S. military (referred to by The Army Times as the "Consequence Management Response Force") has been created to deal with what U.S. officials believe to be a coming, unprecedented wave of massive social chaos.

Later I'll show you why many Washington insiders (including officials directly involved in homeland security) are personally making emergency preparations for social chaos. In addition, outgoing Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson told Sen. James Inhofe and Rep. Brad Sherman that so much financial mayhem lies ahead U.S. troops may have to impose martial law to deal with social unrest.

Yes, U.S. Officials Are Quietly Preparing for BIG Trouble Ahead

A new report by the Army War College's Strategic Studies Institute states flatly the U.S. military must prepare for "a violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States" that could be provoked by "unforeseen economic collapse" or "loss of functioning political and legal order."

Late last year, The Washington Post noted the incoming Obama Administration is going to "earmark" at least 20,000 troops returning from Iraq to deal with "domestic emergencies." Since then, the Army Times has broken the story that the domestic emergency army unit has been increased to 80,000 troops, who are being trained right now in Georgia.

In short, U.S. officials expect big trouble ahead — but they are not warning the general public about the danger (much less urge the unsuspecting masses to make basic preparations).

A rare critic of the government's keep-the-public-in-the-dark mentality is former head of the U.S. Commission on National Security, Stephen Flynn. He noted in a recent Wall Street Journal editorial: "Too many officials believe telling the truth to Americans about the risk would set off a nationwide panic. Thus, they keep us sheep in the dark for our own good."

Boiled down, you need a real plan to deal with massive social dislocations that are headed our way. And you need to get started right now, because the government isn't going to give you a heads-up.

Here’s Why Washington Expects to Use Troops Against Americans

Let me get straight to the point about the high probability of social chaos, what it will look like, and what you can do to not be among the millions of unsuspecting Americans who are going to get caught flat-footed.

You see, a government-consumer debt bubble 20+ years in the making is imploding — as desperate federal meddling to stave off financial collapse is "funded" by frantic funny-money printing to shower trillions of dollars over a restive public.

Even "mainstream" financial figures are finally admitting we may be in more than a recession. For example, the CEO of General Electric, Jeff Immelt, recently conceded the U.S. may be descending into a depression.

Until a few short months ago, official Washington wasn’t even using the "R" word. The "experts" are finally fessing up to what the rest of us can already see: Ghost malls springing up from coast to coast, with an estimated 148,000 store closures projected so far for 2009 — including Steve and Barrys, Sharper Image, Wicks, Levitz, CompUSA, Circuit City, Linens and Things, KB Toys, Whitehall Jewellers, and Shoe Pavilion.

Frightened U.S. policy-makers also note a number of giant chains are on the brink of bankruptcy for 2009, including Phillip Van Heusen (IZOD/Calvin Klein), Macys, Office Depot, Pacific Sunware, Bombay Company, Pep Boys, Sprint-Nextel service stores, Ethan Allen, Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, Dillards, Starbucks, the Gap, Footlocker, and Home Depot.

Dire Unemployment Picture Foreshadows Social Chaos

John Williams of the authoritative Shadow Government Statistics notes that unfudged, un-manipulated government statistics suggests a whopping civilian unemployment rate of 17% — with a projected total to exceed 30% (during the Great Depression, unemployment approached an historic 25%).

In the U.S., job-shedding has now exceeded post-World War II levels and the January 28 Wall Street Journal warned: "One troubling sign is that the states that were first into recession — those with a heavy concentration of home building and manufacturing — are getting worse, not better..."

In December, the International Monetary Fund's managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn warned of riots and unrest sweeping through Western countries as lower-income households are beset with credit constraints and rampant unemployment. (Such riots have already caused the government of Iceland to fall and triggered riots in Greece.)

Today's Americans Don't Resemble the Hardy Depression-Era Generation

Not to be politically-incorrect, but the simple truth is millions of Americans who've never known anything but prosperity and easy-money have a militant expectation that society "owes" them something. And with so many families on the margins of survival already, the speed of the downward unemployment spiral is downright ominous (and unprecedented).

Worse, there are few signs the taxpayer dependents of today have any of the self-reliance skills that saw the hardy Great Depression generation through the tough times.

In fact, there is mounting evidence tens of millions of low-income government dependents and many others infected with a sense of entitlement are prone to crime and violence — especially when it dawns on the masses there are not enough jobs and government promises of "relief" are as empty as the U.S. Treasury is bankrupt.

For example, in response to financially-troubled New York State making minor trims to its budget, an ugly 50,000+ mob took to the streets around city hall to demand higher taxes against the "rich." (Similar protests were mounted in Albany, Buffalo, and White Plains.)

In just the last year, when fuel prices were soaring and metals such as platinum were exploding, gasoline thefts across the nation became rampant. Copper was being ripped off from construction sites, pipes were torn out of abandoned houses and catalytic converters containing trace elements of platinum were being shanghaied from parked cars all over the country.

Of course, the possibility of a full-scale depressionary unemployment is just one "trigger" threatening to cause society to come completely unglued.

Systemic Collapse is a Real Possibility: Other Shoes Are Getting Ready to Drop

It is far too dangerous to ignore the growing signs of impending national social chaos. Even after absorbing some of the unsettling facts in this briefing, you need to act calmly and decisively make sure you can get the things you need and protect what’s yours — with undertones of frantic — while you still can. The signs of trouble abound.

Congressional Quarterly notes that pension fund losses are about to spill out onto the front pages — with nearly as much financial exposure as that which brought down America's banking giants.

It has not made much news yet, but the pension funds of millions of retirees is down by a whopping $1.9 trillion. This is why cities such as Philadelphia are quietly seeking federal money to bolster pension funds which CQ notes are 60% invested in the stock market — which itself has collapsed by a catastrophic 50% in just the last 18 months.

Not to scare the pants off you, but the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has quietly informed Congress that the "insurance" agency for private pension funds, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, is at high risk of failure. (This will not become a "crisis" until desperate people start trying to tap early retirement money that is not there — for now the looming pension catastrophe remains a "dormant" threat).

Worse, the former head of the U.S. Comptroller General Office, David Walker, essentially told Congress (before resigning in disgust) that the Social Security "Trust Fund" is a vault of IOUs; and Medicare will soon be effectively bankrupt.

State Governments Are Becoming Too Broke for Law-Enforcement

The American Association of Architects' historically-reliable construction index has plunged 34.7% — a grim indication the commercial real estate market is the next shoe to drop, which analyst Mike Larson forecasts will lead to an "unstoppable chain reaction of bankruptcies."

The reason I bring this up is because 46 states are already experiencing major budget shortfalls. And yet it is taxes from U.S. commercial real estate on which local and state governments depend to fund fire, police and social services. (Not to mention major insurance carriers — many of which are going to go belly-up when the full extent of the commercial real estate bust hits their reserve portfolios.)

States such as California and Kansas don't even have enough money to send out tax refund checks (much less properly fund police departments) and are coping with the biggest annual job loss in a single year since 1945 (down 2.8 million jobs in 2008 alone).

The Washington Post notes two out of three large police departments in U.S. cities are already reporting budget cuts and hiring freezes, even as 233 departments told the Police Executive Research Forum that they are noticing a major "uptick" in property crime which they attribute to financial unrest.

The National Center for the Victims of Crime reports a whopping 24% increase in calls from October 2007 to October 2008 as "job losses and economic stress factor into increased violence."

In addition, cash-strapped states have been forced by collapsing tax revenue to release hardened criminals back into society, noted the Post. On February 21, The Charlotte Observer reported on a disturbing trend which is going on all over the country: Major budget cuts for jails even as criminality is on the rise.

The Observer story cited the closing of a youth detention center for violent offenders, an all-too-common "low-profile" budget-cutting practice going on all over the country.

More Evidence the You-Know-What is Going to Hit the Fan

Think about the widespread collapse of order and emergency services in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina — except on a national level. The implementation of gun-confiscation laws, looters and thugs terrorizing the elderly with impunity, besieged hospitals without power, doctors and medicine. People forcibly herded into "containment zones" and denied access to food, water, and medical attention. At least 45 patients died in one city-run hospital after being abandoned by doctors and staff.

More recently, a simple fuel pipeline break in America's barely-functioning, antiquated energy infrastructure spawned major gasoline delivery disruptions throughout the entire Southeastern Seaboard region. For over six weeks, drivers could not find gasoline except by standing in line for hours to get just a few gallons of fuel.

The recent regional collapse of the U.S. fuel infrastructure is a major warning sign that the energy supply chain is stretched dangerously thin — which combined with financial unrest has the strong potential to create major disruptions in the food supply chain (most population centers have only three days of food available to the public through supermarkets — meaning panic runs on food are a distinct possibility as the potential for social chaos continues to mount).

If you think these scenarios cannot happen in the United States of America, talk with anyone who has ever been in the path of a hurricane. They will confirm that by the time the general public catches on to the danger, getting everyday items such as gasoline, batteries, plywood, medicine, water, and food becomes next to impossible. Social services, police protection, public transportation, and highway systems become next to useless.
When the Police Abandon

Law-Abiding Neighborhoods to Mobs

And don't even get me started on police protection. Past riots in Washington DC and Los Angeles portend a disturbing pattern when social chaos overwhelms order. The police almost always "pull back" and abandon entire neighborhoods to vicious mobs.

In the case of the 1992 Los Angeles Rodney King riots (as Caucasians and Asians were hunted down, robbed, and slaughtered), the police hunkered behind their defensive cordons as the murderous racist rage unfolded — the only outside contact law-abiding victims had in the riot zone were with intrepid news helicopters hovering overhead, broadcasting the racial pogroms on live TV.

You may even remember the only community to come out unscathed were sections of Los Angeles populated by Asian merchants — who fended off the mobs by placing shooters on the roofs of buildings within their defense perimeter. These heroic Korean merchants successfully protected their families, shops and homes. All because they knew how worthless bureaucrats truly are and made their own preparations. Where are you in this process?

The coming social chaos will magnify these problems a thousand-fold. In short, it is extremely important to be one step ahead of the general public during an unfolding crisis. And at least three long steps ahead of the government's draconian, blunderbuss, freedom-stealing response.
Government Deliberately Keeps Public in the

Dark About Multiple Threats to Public Order

Some Americans have learned from past history and are quietly making basic emergency preparations for social chaos. Private gun sales at all-time record highs. Safe makers and alarm and generator installers have never been so busy. Not even close.

Highly successful financial players such as commodities genius Jim Rogers now openly says the U.S. is heading for an inflationary holocaust.

Which is why, for over a year — as confidence in the U.S. financial and political system continues to evaporate — physical gold and silver have been flying off the shelves — not just in the United States but all over the globe. The unavailability of physical gold and silver has become so acute that major U.S. mints have either curtailed or stopped taking orders for new coins.

The Washington Elite Are Quietly Making Themselves More Self-Reliant

Now I want to share an important personal insight with you that will probably never make the news. You see, I belong to two Washington, D.C. membership organizations which date back to the 1800s — with members that include a smattering of cabinet officials, members of Congress, mid-level federal managers and many, many, retired former insiders.

This is how I first learned that many top-level Washington insiders — many of whom have been directly involved in developing the Homeland Security Department, do not have confidence in government preparations for social chaos.

I know this for a fact, not just because of my conversations with club members. I am also an acquaintance with a private contractor who has a booming specialty business which does nothing but work in posh DC neighborhoods, installing emergency back-up generators, freezers for food, and safes (Even a quick review of the DC yellow pages suggests that installing emergency generators and other survival precautions has become a prospering cottage industry in the Washington area.)

As one of my very best Hillsdale College professors would have mused: "What would lead so many influential Washington insiders (who are in a position to know) to seek out ways to become so much more self-reliant than the average citizen?"

Outgoing Vice President Dick Cheney’s Chilling Prediction

Of course, financial mayhem may be the least of America’s problems. Right after leaving office, Vice President Dick Cheney warned of the possible deaths of "perhaps hundreds of thousands of Americans" in a terror attack using nuclear or biological weapons. "I think there is a high probability of such an attempt," the straight-talking Cheney warned during an interview with Politico.

An important item buried deeply in The Washington Post recently noted there are already 20,000 commercially-available labs in the world where a single person could synthesize any existing virus. In those same 20,000 labs, five people with $2 million can create an advanced pathogen—meaning a virus that will be able to infect even those people who have been immunized with conventional vaccines, and kill perhaps a million of them.

Former Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson confessed to a reporter he "worries every single night" about a possible bioterror attack on the U.S. food supply. "For the life of me," he said, "I cannot understand why the terrorists have not attacked our food supply because it is the easiest thing to do".

Two Categories of People: The Prepared vs. the Clueless

Whatever form the "triggering event" takes, not only will millions of Americans suddenly discover they are completely on their own, they will be completely unprepared for the government’s draconian response to social chaos.

So there are two categories of people in America right now: Category 1 are the millions of clueless who blissfully assume their political overlords are going to take care of them. These are the people most likely to get caught flat-footed when all hell breaks loose. Category 2 are prudent, savvy people who are taking basic steps toward making their families and their households more self-reliant.

Police Raid Roundup

  • Lawsuit claims police raided the apartment in Livingston, Illinois last year. Woman claims the police barged through the door and ordered her to the ground at gunpoint. They apologized after realizing they had raided apartment 1 instead of apartment 10. She claims $20,000 in medical bills.
  • Officer trips, accidentally shoots man in the chest during a drug raid in New Jersey.
  • Chicago will pay out $288,000 in damages resulting from a 2006 drug raid on a bar on the southwest side of the city. Drug charges against two bar patrons were dropped after surveillance video showed officers had lied in their police report about what happened after the raid began.
  • A Phoenix couple has settled with the town of Gilbert, Arizona for $185,000 after an officer tossed a flashbang grenade through a window during a raid on their home. The grenade landed on a bed, caught the bed on fire, and burned the couple’s home to the ground.
  • The ACLU is suing over a series of raids in Riverside, California in which police targeted black-owned barbershops. Though they were drug raids, the actions were couched as “health inspections,” obviating the need for a search warrant. I’ve seen quite of few of these stories, lately–where police conduct drug raids under the guise of a regulatory inspection to get around the need for a search warrant. It’s troubling.
  • The police officer who shot Grand Valley State student Derek Kopp in the chest during a drug raid has been charged with the negligent discharge of a firearm. If the officer is actually guilty of that, it’s nice to see him held accountable. But the problem, here, is the policy of sending police into private homes with their guns drawn to enforce consensual crimes. Until that policy changes, we’ll continue to see incidents like this one. Charging the cops or homeowners who make mistakes under such volatile circumstances isn’t going to change anything. We need to stop putting both parties in such a precarious position in the first place–particularly over, of all things, smoking pot.

Checkpoint USA WON In Court Today (FRIDAY)

This is just a brief update regarding today's events in Pima County Justice Court. Checkpoint USA won without uttering a word.

This is regarding the December 20, 2008 U.S. Border Patrol/tribal police encounter previously discussed here and here.

To recap, tribal police Officer Robert Carrasco, Badge #166, with the Tohono O'odham Police Department worked closely with U.S. Border Patrol Agents to maliciously cite me for impeding traffic while I was being seized by armed federal agents in front of two stop signs at a Homeland Security checkpoint located off the reservation along SR-86 in Southern Arizona.

Tribal police officer Robert Carrasco arrived in court and presented his case in about five minutes or so. Normally, the defendant is then allowed to respond to the allegations but before I was allowed to speak, the judge dismissed the single charge of impeding traffic against me stating that the statute didn't apply.

This was one of several legal arguments I had prepared beforehand but wasn't given the opportunity to present. Not that I'm complaining mind you. The quick dismissal just caught me off guard - especially since I had prepared ten exhibits consisting of sixty pages in triplicate in support of my legal arguments.

This is now the second time the tribal police have initiated enforcement and legal action against me over the past several years only to have the charges dismissed (three times if you count the fact the judge dismissed the same charges twice in 2003).

I'll have a more in-depth writeup regarding today's events later but wanted to post a quick update sooner.

Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009

H.R.1866, the "Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009", was introduced by Ron Paul on April 2, with ten cosponsors. It removes industrial hemp from the list of controlled substances, defines it as "the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration that does not exceed 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis", and gives state regulators sole authority to decide whether a particular plant satisfies that definition. Short, sweet, to the point.

Dr. Paul's remarks, starting on page E860 of the Congressional Record:

Mr. PAUL. "Madam Speaker, I rise to introduce the Industrial Hemp Farming Act. The Industrial Hemp Farming Act requires the Federal Government to respect State laws allowing the growing of industrial hemp.

Eight States--Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Montana, North Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia--allow industrial hemp production or research in accord with State laws. However, Federal law is standing in the way of farmers in these States growing what may be a very profitable crop. Because of current Federal law, all hemp included in products sold in the United States must be imported instead of being grown by American farmers.

Since 1970, the Federal Controlled Substances Act's inclusion of industrial hemp in the schedule one definition of marijuana has prohibited American farmers from growing industrial hemp despite the fact that industrial hemp has such a low content of THC (the psychoactive chemical in the related marijuana plant) that nobody can be psychologically affected by consuming hemp. Federal law concedes the safety of industrial hemp by allowing it to be legally imported for use as food.

The United States is the only industrialized nation that prohibits industrial hemp cultivation. The Congressional Research Service has noted that hemp is grown as an established agricultural commodity in over 30 nations in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America. The Industrial Hemp Farming Act will relieve this unique restriction on American farmers and allow them to grow industrial hemp in accord with State law.

Industrial hemp is a crop that was grown legally throughout the United States for most of our Nation's history. In fact, during World War II, the Federal Government actively encouraged American farmers to grow industrial hemp to help the war effort. The Department of Agriculture even produced a film ``Hemp for Victory'' encouraging the plant's cultivation.

In recent years, the hemp plant has been put to many popular uses in foods and in industry. Grocery stores sell hemp seeds and oil as well as food products containing oil and seeds from the hemp plant. Industrial hemp is also included in consumer products such as paper, cloths, cosmetics, and carpet. One of the more innovative recent uses of industrial hemp is in the door frames of about 1.5 million cars. Hemp has even been used in alternative automobile fuel.

It is unfortunate that the Federal Government has stood in the way of American farmers, including many who are struggling to make ends meet, competing in the global industrial hemp market. Indeed, the founders of our Nation, some of whom grew hemp, would surely find that Federal restrictions on farmers growing a safe and profitable crop on their own land are inconsistent with the constitutional guarantee of a limited, restrained Federal Government. Therefore, I urge my colleagues to stand up for American farmers and cosponsor the Industrial Hemp Farming Act."

Last Thursday, April 2, 1984 - I mean, 2009 - the FBI confiscated the code for each of my online businesses*. They seized all of our servers. They seized our backup servers, and the backups to our backups. As of this writing, everything I have devoted my professional career to over the past three years is no longer in my possession.

My crime? Nothing. In fact, the FBI is not even after me. You will not see me cuffed in an orange jumpsuit on the nightly news. I am a law-abiding, tax-paying American citizen, just one of hundreds of business owners impacted by a secret government raid on a Dallas server company. Google and AT&T have been affected. Local city governments have lost data. Many are still without e-mail. Several counties have lost their 911 service.

The cause? Lest anyone doubt who our politicians answer to, the tax-payer funded government mafia known as the Federal Bureau of Instigation, while in the midst of supposedly fighting terror and protecting the common good against serial killers and drug cartels, spent Thursday morning confiscating the assets of businesses like mine because one movie pirate (who rented server space from the same hosting company) was facilitating downloads of the Hugh Jackman superhero movie, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." That is the rumor, anyway. I wish I was joking.

I am a published author and obviously do not endorse the piracy of copyrighted material. This is different, whether the rumor is factual or not. This is the equivalent of imprisoning a town because one of its residents is a thief; of evicting an entire apartment building because one tenant is dealing drugs. It is police work the lazy way. In the meantime, hundreds of businesses are now staring at the long and arduous process of regrouping after this fascist sucker punch. The collateral damage is unfathomable.

In the midst of corporate bailouts, stimulus packages, and a $3.6 trillion federal budget, let it be known the the Feds are busy at work raiding small businesses and disrupting the lives of private citizens. We live in a time when the prevailing creed is: some are more equal than others. This is the 21st century animal farm, and the smell from the glue factory is palpable.

According to the FBI, we might get our data returned to us soon. I received the following e-mail this weekend from the FBI agent in charge of the case: "Sir, we are working with Inverse Operations (note: our hosting provider) to provide them with a copy of all of the data on their servers - if you have any questions, please direct them to Inverse Operations."

Comforting.

Let this be a lesson to others. If ever there has been a time to protect your (ass)ets, it is now. Welcome to communism. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

*Lest any of our customers fear that his or her privacy has been compromised, we have kept (and will continue to keep) no customer information. This is the reason we conduct all business by phone. From our inception, all e-mail correspondence has been automatically removed from our servers the moment it was sent, precisely for instances like this one. New (un)Professionalism Roundup

In town for a conference, a director of Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty is detained by TSA at the St. Louis airport because when asked to explain why he’s carrying $4,700 in cash (it was proceeds from book and ticket sales at the conference), he asks the agents to tell him what law requires him to do so. He managed to surreptitiously record his conversations with TSA officers on a cell phone. The audio is infuriating.

  • Philly cop takes journalism student through black neighborhood. J-student reports that during the ride-along, the cop refers to residents as “animals,” and the crimes he polices as “typical nigger shit.” He then adds, “People hate us here. They spit at us.” I wonder why.
  • Two Baltimore cops face federal indictment for beating a teen while the kid was shackled, then covering it up with the aid of their sergeant. Incredibly, one of the cops has been suspended with pay since 2004, even though he was convicted of assault in 2005.
  • Phoenix police raid the home of a blogger who had set up a police watch website. They also have been raiding the homes of police officers suspected of giving the guy tips about officer misconduct, including one officer who was blackballed in the department for going public about mishandling of evidence in the city’s crime lab.
  • The Connecticut attorney general’s office has finally released the report of its investigation into the drug raid police shooting of unarmed Gonzalo Guizan in May of last year. The police brought 21 cops to conduct a paramilitary raid, complete with flashbang grenades, on the home of Ronald Terebesi. Guizan was visiting Terebesi at the time. The highly aggressive raid was conducted based on a tip from a prostitute that Terebesi was using illicit drugs, not distributing them. The report does say Guizan had cocaine in his system at the time of the raid, and according to police, tried to wrestle one officer’s gun away from him. Guizan wasn’t a named suspect, and had no prior criminal record.
  • According to those who have viewed it, a dash camera video into a fatal police shooting in Fort Wayne, Indiana last year shows the shooting to be unprovoked. But Fort Wayne’s mayor refuses to make the video available to the public, stating he’s keeping the video under wraps out of respect for the victim’s family. The officer in question has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
  • Federal lawsuit claims police planted a gun after shooting an unarmed 16-year-old kid eight times, killing him. The gun police claim to have found on the scene had no fingerprints (though the police chief said otherwise in public statements), and was shown to have been in police possession at the time of the burglary (it had been seized after a burglary). According to the lawsuit, the police then filed a separate report 10 days later that swapped in a new gun. You can see security stills from the chase here. At least one video expert claims they show no gun. Doesn’t look like it to me, either.
  • The city of Santa Fe has settled with a man beaten by police officers in 2006. The settlement came after the man was able to get a court to force the city to turn over a dash cam video of the beating–a video the city tried to claim didn’t exist. The man was initially charged with felonies for assaulting the police officers. A jury acquitted him in 20 minutes. The two officers who beat him are still on the force.

Internet reboot

As you may have heard in the news, the Internet will be rebooted today and is expected to be down for around one minute. A global consortium of ISPs and technology companies has called for the action following several periods of instability over the past few years.

A spokesman for the group commented:

People forget that the Internet has been running continuously since the 1970s. This reboot will provide greater stability for years to come. We’re also hoping it will result in fewer viagra and scam messages.

The plans have been meticulous and all information will be backed up to CD and tape drives. No one should lose data as a result of the reboot, but everyone is advised to:

  1. Convert 1 April 11.59am UTC to their local time using a tool such as The World Clock Time Zone Converter.
  2. Shut down all Internet applications such as web browsers, email clients, and instant messengers shortly before the reboot.
  3. Wait at least a minute before restarting any applications.

The process is especially hazardous for the Internet technicians handling the restart. One specialist - who wished to remain anonymous - told us:

Some of the equipment down there is nearly 40 years old. There are missing fuses, exposed wires and unterminated cables: it will be dangerous.

Anyone surfing the net or sending a large email attachment at 11.59 could easily electrocute one of my team.

Establishment, in direct violation of the constitution, of a privately governed central bank whose sole purpose is to manipulate the monetary markets and which is not subject to public scrutiny and whose actions undermine the value of the American dollar to the detriment of the welfare of these United states.

Unconstitutional invasion, overthrow and occupation of sovereign foreign countries which pose no threat to the security of these United states based on political ideology to the detriment of the foreign nation and the welfare of the citizens of these United states.

Unconstitutional presence in allied foreign countries which pose no threat to the security of these United states and which levies unconscionable debt on the current and future citizens of these United states.

The implementation of an electoral system intended to marginalize third parties thereby limiting the choices presented to the electorate and giving an unfair advantage to the incumbents and leading to one party and/or one family or members of previous administrations also holding high-ranking offices in successive administrations, effectively creating an unconstitutional monarchy.

Unconstitutional manipulation of the tax laws to serve political agendas to the detriment of the welfare of these United states.

Unconstitutional alliances with special interests and big businesses to the detriment of the welfare of these United states.

Severe unconstitutional civil rights violations to include:

Restrictions on the freedom of speech.

Restrictions on our rights to bear arms.

Restrictions of use of private property.

The impractical and logistically impossible size of the federal government makes it, by definition, an inefficient leviathan to the detriment of the welfare of these United states.

In every stage of these digressions citizens of these United states have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A president or legislator, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Vin Suprynowicz hits the nail on the head again with this article about unquestioned submission to the poLice. Only when cops are subject to the same terror that they impose on civilians, will they change their ways. It is a cross jurisdictional "cop-culture" (an oxymoron for sure) that needs a cross jurisdictional civilian payback culture to stop this.

“I just finished reading the article on Excessive Force on page 2B,” wrote in Ron the Former Police Officer, on March the 5th. “Another person was apparently injured in a police confrontation, followed by the usual lawsuit. As a former police detective, I have a solution on how to avoid 99 percent of all injuries, lawsuits, and deaths sustained as a result of a police confrontation,” offers Officer Ron:

“When stopped by an officer, do as he asks. Never run from the police, never fight with the police, never get into a shouting match, don’t try to escape from custody. Simply submit, but try to obtain all the info you can, i.e. why am I being stopped, etc. If you feel the officer is in error, there will be ample opportunity to contest the allegations later.”

On March 27, 2006 People magazine published an article (easily found at http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20061695,00.html) that reported what happened to a number of Americans who “just submitted”:

“Heather Southerland had just gotten in her car after an evening visit with a girlfriend in Leesville, La,,” wrote reporter Bill Hewitt in the article, headlined “Phony Cops, Real Victims”

“As she drove away, a green Ford Bronco pulled close behind her, flashing its lights. Southerland, 24, turned onto a deserted side street. ‘The man got out of his Bronco and said, “Leesville Police Department, undercover narcotics, step out of the car,” ’ she recalls. He ordered her to walk backwards toward him and put her hands on the trunk of her vehicle. She asked to see his badgeÑand he refused. ‘He said I didn’t need to see his badge,’ she says. ‘I knew right then something extremely bad was about to happen.’”
